May Day 2003 once again gave the Ahuimanu Community a chance to gather together to celebrate the accomplishments of the school year and honor those that made the year such a successful one. On hand were Olelo to film the festivities to air on their network, Senator Melodie Williams Aduja, and Representative Colleen Meyer.
Ahuimanu family and friends were once again treated to the grade levels performing Hula Dances with the Kindergarteners naturally taking the show and winning everyone's hearts with their rendition of Tutu 'e.
It is though with great sadness that we enter the new school year with the passing of our beloved Kupuna, Lorraine Smith. Kupuna touched the hearts of all the staff and students and was a important contributor to the May Day Festivities and to the study of the Hawaiian Language and Heritage at Ahuimanu. She will be deeply missed. All of Ahuimanu's thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.
Please feel free to leave and messages or comments for Kupuna Smith and her Family in our Guestbook. Mahalo.
